Budget planning is part of the careful preparation for trade fair participation. Cost factors, in addition to basic costs such as stand rental and energy supply are costs of stand construction, furnishing and design, stand service and communication, transport, handling as well as personnel and travel costs.

In various surveys, AUMA - the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry - has determined or estimated the average costs of a trade fair participation. According to this, at international trade fairs in Germany the average value of the total costs per square metre of stand space ranges between 750 and 950 Euro. These figures, however, only provide a rough guide; the actual costs can vary considerably.
