More visitors again at German trade fairs
1st half of 2006: all trade fair indicators
register a plus
6.10.2006 In the
1st half of 2006 the number of visitors at the international trade fairs in
Germany was around 2.5 percent above the figure for the respective previous
events. In the full year of 2005 the number of visitors had declined by over 2
percent. That was revealed by the provisional calculation of AUMA – the
Association of the German Trade Fair Industry – for the 90 events which were
held in the first six months.
As a result, it is to be expected that the number of visitors will increase in
the full year of 2006 in comparison to the previous events for the first time
since 2000. The substantial increase in economic growth is apparently not only
leading to a greater demand for products and services, but also to more persons
visiting trade fairs for the purpose of preparing pro-curement decisions.
The number of exhibitors at the international trade fairs was over 1 per-cent
above that of the respective previous events (full year of 2005: +2.6 %);
rented space also grew by almost a half percent (2005: +0.6 %).
For the full year of 2006, AUMA, however, expects a significant increase in
numbers of exhibitors and rented space, because several larger trade fairs due
to be held in autumn are reporting good registration figures.
