141 international trade fairs planned for 2007
AUMA expects increase in all key trade fair indicators
8.01.2007 The German exhibition
organizers are planning to conduct 141 international fairs in Germany this
year. AUMA – Association of the Ger-man Trade Fair Industry – expects that
around 160,000 exhibitors will participate at these events, representing an
increase of about 2% on the respective previous events. In addition, AUMA
expects that the rented space at the trade fairs will increase on average by
about 1% and reach a total of 6.5 mill. m². The number of visitors will
probably be around 10.2 mill., around 1% more than at the previous events. As a
result – due to the composition of the trade fair programme - for the first
time since 2001, the 10 million visitor mark will be exceeded once again.
By comparison: in 2006, according to the provisional results, the number of
exhibitors increased by about 1.5% , rented space grew by almost 1%, while the
number of visitors was on average 2.5% above the level of the previous events.
In the opinion of AUMA, this generally positive trend for the trade fair
industry will be supported by the robust economic growth in Germany. Despite
the increase in the rate of value added tax, almost all the economic experts
meanwhile only expect a slight weakening in growth. Exports and imports will
probably once again increase significantly.
AUMA, therefore, expects that, despite the growing worldwide competition, the
German trade fairs will maintain their position as leading international
platforms for trade and information.
