No plans to expand hall space in Germany

Drucken
Berlin, 30.06.2010 - The German trade fair venues do not plan to expand their hall space till 2015. This is the result of a survey conducted by the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) this spring. According to the decisions of the supervisory bodies a total of EUR 330 million are going to be invested between 2010 and 2015, in particular in the renovation and modernization of existing hall space. At the moment there are no plans to expand hall space at exhibition venues of international importance.

Early this year a total of 2,757,440 m² of hall space was available in Germany. This is 1.3% more than in January 2009. At the moment the amount of additional hall capacities which are put into operation is relatively small. Last year there was a slight decrease in the amount of net hall space. The amount of capital investment was already declining last year as it was in 2008: Around EUR 180 million were invested in exhibition venues hosting international trade fairs. This means a decrease of 18% compared to the previous year. Funds were mostly spent on cutting back single capacity constraints.
