Explanation to the Search Criteria

Wildcard

The asterisk (*) is used as wildcard. By using the asterisk, a query text with any beginning or end can be searched for. Entering "*promotion*" into the query box "title" leads you to all fairs containing in their titles the string "promotion".
 

International and national trade fairs and exhibitions show the main products and services of one or more branches of industry in a display area at least 4000 m² in size. They attract visitors from areas significantly beyond the local region. In general, 50 % of the visitors are from areas at least 100 km away and 20 % are from regions at least 300 km from the venue. These events usually also attract international attendance, i.e. a minimum of 10 % of foreign exhibitors and 5 % of trade visitors from abroad.
 

Trade fairs listed as Special dwell on a specific industry theme, occupy display areas less than
4000 m² in size, and at the very least are attended by visitors from non-local regions. In general, 50 % of the visitors are from areas at least 100 km away and 20 % are from regions at least 300 km from the venue. Trade fairs in this category are listed as “Regional” up to 2009.
 

Regional trade fairs and exhibitions are attended mainly by visitors from the local region. In general, significantly more than 50 % of the visitors are from areas less than 100 km from the venue. They focus on products and services which may also originate from outside the local region. This category also included trade fairs listed as "Special" up to 2009.

German trade fair organisers which are AUMA-members offer their know-how not only to exhibiting firms in Germany but since almost two decades also to companies all over the world.

In order to underline the qualitative advantage of German foreign trade fairs, in consultation with its members involved abroad, AUMA has developed the label "German Trade Fair Quality Abroad (GTQ)". To obtain this label German organisers have to: own the basic concept of the trade fair, manage the concept realization and draw up the budget and control the international marketing.
 

Together with AUMA the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) and the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) offer support to German companies taking part in trade fairs abroad. The Foreign Trade Fair Participation Programme of Germany (AMP) provides a list of fairs in which the Federal Republic of Germany is involved, which AUMA publishes in print form and on the internet.
