Trade fair market Germany
Germany is the world’s number one venue for holding international trade fairs. Around two-thirds of the world’s leading trade fairs for various industries take place in Germany. Every year in Germany, around 150 international trade fairs and exhibitions take place, attended by 180,000 exhibitors and around ten million visitors.
Feature: international appeal
The most important feature of German trade fairs is their international appeal. More than half of the exhibitors are from abroad, a third of whom come from countries outside Europe. More than one in five visitors are from abroad. Added to this, Germany has innumerable regional trade fairs for trade visitors and consumers, attended annually by some 50,000 exhibitors and six million visitors.
The total hall area at the 22 trade fair venues attracting exhibitors from national regions is close to 2.8 million m². At ten of the exhibition grounds hall capacity exceeds 100,000 m²; three of the world’s five largest exhibition grounds are in Germany. Trade fair organisers in Germany register a combined turnover of over 3 billion euros. In terms of turnover, five of the world’s ten leading trade fair companies are based in Germany.
