German trade show organisers are planning around 310 trade fairs in 40 countries in 2024. This is the finding of a current survey conducted by the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry, AUMA. Many of these projects are satellite events associated with trade fairs that have been successfully running in Germany for many years. With renowned trade fair concepts and networks in significant regions around the world, German exhibition companies are thus offering German companies the opportunity to participate in a foreign trade fair, with the same quality standards as they are used to. All foreign trade fairs organised by AUMA members are now listed in the trade fair database.
The most important foreign markets for German event organisers are South, East, and Central Asia, with almost 190 events. This is followed by the markets in Latin America (34), Europe (34), the Near and Middle East (19), North America and Africa with 14 events each, and Australia/Oceania with three trade fairs. A total of 16 members of AUMA and FAMA (Fachverband Messen und Ausstellungen) are organising foreign trade fairs to take place next year. This includes more than a dozen new projects. The trade fairs cover almost the entire spectrum of the industry – automation, structural engineering, the energy sector, nutrition, vehicles, agriculture and forestry, mechanical engineering, and the textile industry.
In 2023, around 300 trade fairs were organised abroad by AUMA and FAMA members, and around 230 the previous year.
Current and detailed information on particular trade fairs are available at https://www.auma.de/en/exhibit/find-your-exhibitions?list=94m7. The foreign trade fairs organised by AUMA and FAMA members are marked “GTQ” in the AUMA trade fair database, which stands for “German Trade Fair Quality Abroad”.
AUMA is the umbrella association of the German trade fair industry. It represents the interests of all large and medium-sized trade fair companies in Germany, both nationally and internationally, as well as the associations representing exhibitors, service companies and visitors.
Trade fairs in Germany secure up to 230,000 jobs. Some 70 trade fair venues located between the North Sea and Lake Constance make the exhibition scene world-wide unique. Two thirds of the world’s leading trade fairs take place in Germany. At peak times, international, national and regional trade fairs in Germany attract more than 235,000 exhibiting companies and 16 million visitors. On average, 60 percent of exhibitors and 35 percent of professional visitors to all leading trade fairs travel from abroad.
