Trade fairs in Germany can still take place

Latest corona decisions of federal and state governments have no impact on exhibitions

Even after the resolutions of the federal and state governments on October 14, 2020 to contain the corona pandemic, trade fairs may be held in Germany. In the talks between the Chancellor and the heads of government of the federal states, it was agreed, among other things, that the number of participants in events should be limited to 100 in regions with more than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants on average over the last seven days. However events for which there is a hygiene concept agreed with the responsible health authority are excluded.

Since there are corresponding concepts for exhibitions in Germany planned in the near future, trade fairs are not affected by this agreement, as AUMA - Association of the German Trade Fair Industry stated. In principle, separate specifications for trade fairs apply in the federal states; The central components include hygiene concepts agreed with the responsible authorities. According to the agreement between the federal government and the federal states on May 6, 2020, the individual states are responsible for the permission of trade fairs with corresponding requirements.

AUMA assumes that the federal states will continue with these regulations accordingly. Because all trade fairs that have taken place since the restart in September could be accomplished without any complaints concerning the health protection of the participants.

Also, the federal and state governments decided on no restrictions for other premises with business purposes , for example shopping centers or department stores, in which the settings are comparable to those in exhibition halls.
