Dr. Peter Neven (64), Managing Director of the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA), was named CEO of AUMA by its Board of Directors, effective 1 January 2018. The Board thereby also honoured his many years of successful work for the association.
Dr. Neven joined AUMA in 1988, was managing director and head of the Trade Fairs Germany division from 1990 to 2006, and has been the sole managing director since 2006. The Board also extended his contract, which would have ended on 31 January 2019 for reasons of age, to 31 December 2019. In addition to Dr. Neven, AUMA’s management continues to consist of Harald Kötter, who directs the Public Relations & Trade Fairs Germany division, and Marco Spinger, who directs the Global Markets & IT division.
The Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) has 74 members, including 38 organisations from exhibiting and visiting industries as well as the service provider sector, and 36 trade fair operators.
The German trade fair industry leads the world in international fairs. Nearly two-thirds of the world’s major trade fairs take place here. Close to 60% of exhibitors and 35% of trade visitors come from abroad. Of the world’s ten largest trade fair companies, four are based in Germany. German organisers post a combined annual turnover of around 3.7 billion euros. Exhibitors and visitors spend around 12 billion euros each year to take part in trade fairs in the country.
