Mission statement

As the central industry association, the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) represents the interests of the exhibiting, visiting and organising trade fair industry and trade fair service providers at national and international level.

AUMA organises all its activities on behalf of its members to ensure that

  • Trade fairs are the No. 1 marketing instrument for the exhibiting and visiting industry,
  • Germany, with its international trade fairs and exhibitions, is the world's leading trade fair centre.

Corporate goals

Together with its members, AUMA strengthens and promotes the quality of trade fairs and exhibitions in Germany as a trade fair centre by

  • Gathering, analysing and providing industry knowledge
  • Creating networks and platforms for the exchange of information and experience among its members
  • Targeted communication of the benefits of trade fairs to the (trade) public and politicians

AUMA supports the success of companies, especially German SMEs, by participating in trade fairs in Germany and abroad.

Positioning the trade fair in politics, business, science and the media

  • Presentation of the overall economic importance of Germany as a trade fair location and the significance of the trade fair medium for the economic success of companies, particularly with regard to international competition and the competition of communication instruments in the marketing mix.

Market transparency

  • Presentation of the entirety and development of the German trade fair market for exhibiting, visiting and organising companies in Germany and abroad using relevant key figures.

Development of the trade fair medium

  • Creation of platforms and networks for the successful and sustainable further development of the trade fair as a marketing instrument, together with relevant partners from business, science and the public.

Promotion of companies

  • Targeted advocacy for the creation and continuation of support programmes at federal and state level for trade fair participation at home and abroad in order to enable and strengthen the economic success of German companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, in international competition.
